What is ALERT?
Real-time price aggregation and estimation -
the best prices
ALERT takes real-time data from brokers and exchanges and aggregates this to derive the best currently quoted bid and ask price. Illiquid markets mean that there are usually multiple prices on the forward curve that are not quoted. ALERT estimates these missing prices by employing sophisticated algorithms.
Real time price and position monitoring -
tells you when to buy or sell
Using the best bid and ask price forward curves, ALERT calculates the mark-to-market (MTM) and Value at Risk (VaR) of all budget periods defined by the customer. Any price limits (buy or sell, stop-loss or target) or budget limits are then checked and alert messages sent via SMS text and e-mail to a list of alert recipients.
Cascading alerts -
mitigate operational risk
ALERT allows the customer to define a list of alert recipients and how to cascade through this list if a limit remains in breach for a certain period of time. At any point any alert recipient can deactivate or change the value of the limit from their cell phone by sending an SMS message to the ALERT system. Real-time execution of your trading and risk policy is efficiently and reliably delivered, without the need for any expensive third-party outsourcing of this core business function.
Secure PDF reports - an audit trail to show how you arrived at each price
ALERT produces presentation-quality PDF reports and e-mails them to recipient lists. File sizes are low, making receipt to mobile e-mail devices a simple task. Position (MTM), price and admin reports can be defined and then produced to a calendar schedule or in the event of a limit breach. This feature allows customers to receive a PDF report showing the price or MTM for which a limit has been breached within minutes of that limit breach occurring, meaning that you have all the information you need to transact even if you have no internet connectivity.
SaaS Web 2.0 cloud-computing application - no install, easy access, anywhere
ALERT is a secure cloud computing application delivered as Software as a Service (SaaS), meaning that you can run ALERT on any web browser without installing any software and on the large majority of different operating systems. Wherever you are you are only seconds away from your risk management system - on a smartphone, tablet, laptop or PC.
Secure and with ultra-high
availability - no system risk
ALERT is secure because it is served from a set of dedicated remote servers behind their own firewall and employs strong SSL encryption, just like your online bank, for all communications between your browser and the ALERT web servers. All data is comprehensively backed-up. Energy Alert employs the market-leading webserver provider RackSpace to deliver our infrastructure and connectivity.
